Friday Jan 30th
While I was filling this sheet I think I never see it snow faster

Saturday Jan 31st
The snow has completely put a stop to all passing with teams. It is piledup over the highest fances so I am oblige to leave my horse and sleigh and make for home on foot a distance of four miles as it is saturday and no probability of getting homewith horse for wo or three days to come

Tuesday February 3
I have just got my horse and sleigh home and commence to travel again but the roads are so filled up that I have to travel through fields to accomplish my Enumeration districts and while I am traveling through the snow drifts my mind has been drawn out upon our legislators not in the way of finding fault but I have been thinking that they acted upon the Tory Principle to make the rich richer and the poor keep them so when they passed a law to give the Clerk of peace fifteen Shillings a hundred for copying the names of the Jurors in a book in his own office and give the Enumerator only ten Shillings for every hundred when he has to travel all over the country through snow and storm and take all other statistics beside the names and ages and C. I am not finding fault that the Enumerator does not get enough but that the Clerk of the peace gets to much according to the labour performed.

His comments on the last page of his enumeration:
In my Instructions I was directed to notice the rivers Roads and general character as for rivers there is none in my Division and the roads were covered so deep with snow there was no such thing as finding them but being aquainted with the roads in summer I must say they surpass any other locality for miles around the main road to Wellington is nearly on all the way Gravelled so it is as good as most of the Mecadomised roads and the soil is good in general we have but very few streams in my division and those only last for a few months Spring and fall the character of the soil is various Some Sandy Loam some Gravelly land and some clay ground but in general it is as productive in good seasons as any land in the adjoining Counties the potatoe crop has ?hen failed this year past and also winter Wheat which you will see by the number of acres and the produce from it but the Spring crops in general are as good as in years past.
